What is Japanese black tea?

Japanese black tea is produced in Japan.

Our Japanese black tea ( Wakocha ) is made from the same tea leaves as Sencha ( Japanese green tea ).

Although the tea leaves come from the same fields, the flavor of Japanese black tea is quite different from that of Sencha, which has bitterness and astringency, and has a sweet taste and strong aroma. This is because the production process is different.*

Assam black tea, which is produced in India and Sri Lanka, is also very different from Japanese black tea.

While Assam black tea is characterized by its deep richness and strong astringency, Japanese black tea made from the Chinese variety has a subtle sweetness and a less astringent taste.

In addition to this, our Japanese black tea also allows you to enjoy the differences in taste and aroma depending on the variety.

"Yume-wakaba" has a gorgeous aroma, "Yutaka-midori" has a strong flavor and sweetness, and "Hokumei" has a mellow taste.

*Sencha goes through the processes of steaming, toasting, and drying, while Japanese black tea goes through the processes of wilting (drying), toasting, maturing, and drying.
